"Cheltonians" buried in the Cemetery

Lieutenant Peter HOPCRAFT, 97 Squadron RAF, is buried in Plot I, D, 4.

He was killed in aerial action on 28th October 1918, whilst flying a Handley Page heavy bomber of the Independent Force.   He was 19 years old.

He is commemorated on the Bishops Cleeve War Memorial, the Southam War Memorial and on the Cleeve Hill (St Peter's Church) Roll of Honour.

His parents, George and Mildred Hopcraft, resided at Old Gable House, Southam.   His brother, George Paul Hopcraft, was killed in action on HMS Queen Mary during the Battle of Jutland on 31st May 1916.
