Battalion History

Formed as a Bantam Service battalion on 22nd April 1915 at Bristol by the Citizens' Recruiting Committee.   Accepted by War Office August 1915.   Full Title - 14th (Service) Battalion (West of England).
Assigned to 105th Infantry Brigade of the 35th Division in June 1915.   Arrived in France on 30th January 1916.   Served in France and Flanders (Neuve Chapelle, Somme, Arras, Roye, St Quentin, Ypres).
Battalion was disbanded on11th February 1918, personnel being transferred to 13th Bn Glos Regt and 12th Entrenching Bn.
Battle Honours, 5 earned at:   France and Flanders 1915 - 1918, Ypres 1917, Somme 1916, Bazentin, Passchendaele.
