| Formed in Bristol in 1908 as the 6th Battalion. Battalion formed 1st and 2nd Line units in August 1914 at Bristol. Full Title - 1/6th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment (Territorial Force) |
| Assigned to 144th Infantry Brigade, 48th (1st South Midland) Division in August 1914. Arrived in France in March 1915. Served in France and Flanders, and Italy. |
| Battle Honours, 11 earned at: France and Flanders 1915 - 1917, Ypres 1917, Langemarck 1917, Somme 1916, Albert 1916, Pozieres, Broodseinde, Poelcapelle, Italy 1917 - 18, and Piave, Vittorio-Veneto. |
| After the war, the battalion served in Albania, Montenegro and Egypt for Garrison duties before returning to Bristol in March 1920. |
