Battalion History

Formed at Bristol as the Second Line of the 4th Battalion in September 1914.   Full Title - 2/4th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment (Territorial Force)
Assigned to 183rd Infantry Brigade, 61st (2nd South Midland) Division in January 1915.   Arrived in France on 25th May 1916.   Served in France and Flanders (Fauquissart, Somme, Peronne, St Quentin, Ypres, Arras, Cambrai).
Battle Honours, 4 earned at:   France and Flanders 1915 - 1918, Ypres 1917, Langemarck 1917, and Cambrai 1917.
Battalion disbanded on 20th February 1918, personnel transferred to 2/5th Bn Glos Regt and 24th Entrenching Battalion.
