The memorial plaque to Lt Col
Richard Chester CHESTER-MASTER DSO, 13th Battalion Kings Royal Rifle
Corps, situated in the St Philip and St James Church. He was
killed in action leading his battalion in the Ypres area of Belgium on 30th August 1917 aged 47.
He is buried in the Locre Hospice Cemetery, Heuvelland, Belgium. He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the St Philips Church Roll of Honour and the Cirencester War Memorial. His family resided at "St Clair", The Park, Cheltenham and his widow, Mrs Geraldine Mary Rose Chester-Master, later resided at Querns Lance House, Cirencester. |
