Gnr John Edward LEWIS, 161st Heavy
Battery, 51st Brigade, Royal Garrison Artillery, is commemorated on the
family grave. He died of wounds on 31st August 1918, aged 27, in the St Quentin area of France and is buried in the Foucaucourt Communal Cemetery. He is commemorated on the Bishops Cleeve War Memorial. His parents, George and Mary Ann Lewis, resided in Elmstone Hardwicke. George died in 1912 and Mary Ann re-married in 1914 to Mr John Gregg. |
