Pte Richard Sully PONTING, 2/6th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, was killed in action on 2nd December 1917 in the Cambrai are of France. He has no known grave and is listed on the Cambrai Memorial To The Missing. He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and the St Stephen's Church War Memorial. His parents, William Harris and Jemima Spiller Ponting, resided in the Thornbury area and he left a widow, Mrs Ada Eleanor Bruce Ponting, at "Oakdene", Albany Road, Cheltenham. |
