Notes:

1.   The Training Reserve was formed in September 1916 to train all new recruits for the front line.  All Reserve units of infantry regiments lost their original title and became numbered battalions of the Training Reserve -  see here for a more detailed explanation.   In late 1917 the Training Reserve was further reorganised to bring training battalions back into the Regimental system.
